The ideal cruise liner passengers choice
An ideal way to visit Malta in one day! Private chauffeured driven transport, met personally by your licensed tourist guide at the Cruise terminal, toured at your own pace in 8 hours! :
The tour will start with a drive round the fortified Capital City of Valletta. This will be followed by the stunning view of the Grand Harbour to be enjoyed from the Upper Barrakka Gardens. A short walk brings you to St. John’s Co-Cathedral, where you will have a conducted tour, of one of Europe’s most splendid Cathedrals also housing the famous Caravaggio paintings.
Passing by Palaces and monuments we will then be picked up to proceed for a drive through quaint little villages nestled below the walled city of Mdina, A walking tour of Malta’s old Capital City, Mdina has an irregular plan of narrow winding streets intended to confuse the enemy. This mediaeval city was from all times the seat of the island’s nobility, therefore boasting a number of patrician homes, palaces, and a few souvenir shops.
After Mdina a drive to the South to view the Blue Grotto from the platform above, a truly stunning view of the grotto and the massive arch at its entrance. Having seen the grotto from a height, you will then be taken down to the bottom of the road, for the pretty view of the fjord, which harbours the colourful little boats that do an optional 20-minute boat trip around the caves for a spectacle of colours, a result of the reflections from the white sand, and the phosphorescent colours of the flora on the seabed, as well as from the minerals in the rock. This is a great opportunity for photography. (This stop is optional and weather and time permitting the boat fare is €10 per person)
In the South, we will be able to visit a world UNESCO site the Megalithic temple of Tarxien Temples, dating back to 2,500 and 2,900 B.C. This is the most highly decorated of the temple sites. Followed by Vittoriosa, the Maritime city is only a 10-minute drive away, this is where the Knights of St. John first settled before building Valletta, here we take a short walk in the Collachio, the area reserved for the Knights.
The tour will also include Marsaxlokk, a picturesque fishing village on the south-east side of Malta, with its traditional brightly painted boats, having their origin in Phoenician times. This serene atmosphere makes this a very pleasant place to have lunch at one of the several quayside restaurants.
The excursion as proposed, involves two entrance fees, the cost for the Cathedral being €15 and that for the pre-historic temple being €10.
What others say about us
We toured with a guide Her name was Paula and she was superb. She spent the entire day with us, was extremely knowledgeable and she showed us all the sites we could possibly pack into a full day. Paula was extremely well informed and really seemed to enjoy when we asked her about her country. It was not our first time in Malta, but with Paula it was definitely the best. We would name her as probably the best all-around guide we had during our trip this year.
Paula who was superb. We did an ‘oldest to newest’ tour starting with a pass by Blue Grotto to Hagar Qim, Dingli Cliffs, Mdina, the Craft Village, Three Villages, Mosta Dome and finished with the Presidents Garden. Paula was knowledgable and personable and a great guide.
